Google Meet Note
Capture notes while maintaining focus and avoiding distractions
Project Overview
Challenge
During virtual meetings, participants often need to take notes to capture important information for future reference or to share with their teams. However, Google Meet currently lacks a built-in note-taking feature, leading users to rely on external applications. Additionally, note-taking can become more challenging when dealing with accents of speakers or poor internet connections, further complicating the process.
Opportunity
When a virtual meeting platform lacks a note-taking feature, users often utilize external programs for taking notes during meetings. This creates challenges in locating the notes in the future, which can be time-consuming and inefficient.
Solution
Implement a feature that enables users to take notes seamlessly during virtual meetings without causing interruptions.

00 My Story
I typically use Google Calendar to schedule Virtual Meetings and Zoom to host them. However, after losing access to the Zoom license, a switch was made to Google Meet, and it became clear that Google Meet lacks several essential features. Upon reviewing Zoom’s pricing, the cost was found to be unexpectedly high. This highlighted the potential for Google Meet to help companies reduce Cost while Enhancing the experience for Google Calendar users. Consequently, the case study was initiated, starting with user research to understand which virtual meeting platforms people prefer and the reasons behind their choices.

01 Problem & Hypothesis
Problem - Note
The absence of an Integrated Note-Taking Feature in Google Meet necessitates the use of external tools for note-taking by users, which adversely impacts their experience both During and After the meeting.
Hypothesis - Note
An Integrated Note-Taking Feature will enhance Productivity and Collaboration for Google Meet users and improve the utilization of existing Google Extension Features.
Problem - Delivery
During virtual meetings, users frequently encounter difficulties in taking notes due to Challenges in Hearing or Comprehending the speaker's statements and presentation materials.
Hypothesis - Delivery
Implementing a Transcription Feature will improve users' comprehension and facilitate more efficient note-taking, reducing instances of Miscommunication and minimizing the likelihood of Missing Information.
Carried out an Interview of 6 Employees and 2 Students to gain insights into the user experience of individuals utilizing virtual meetings and to identify obstacles for enhancing this experience
Competitor Analysis has identified features offered by industry-leading virtual meeting and note-taking programs that Google Meet currently lacks. Additionally, Tool Comparison has affirmed the Competitive Advantage of Google Docs in this context
Each interviewee takes Notes during virtual meetings using the program designated by their respective organizations or schools. However, the majority utilize Google Docs either for Note-Taking or Sharing and Saving their notes.
In addition, it was identified that users often struggle to keep Pace with the speaker due to difficulties in Hearing or Comprehension, which poses a significant obstacle to effective note-taking.
The Competitor Analysis highlighted that leading Virtual Meeting Programs and Note-Taking Programs in the industry already incorporate features enabling users to take notes and facilitate collaboration through sharing.
In comparison to other note-taking methods identified through interviews to discern users' preferences, it was found that the majority prefer Google Docs attributed to its provision of the Most Efficient note-taking service and its additional features for Post-Meeting use.
02 Features & Prioritization
Prioritized Features
To ensure the successful development of the product, it is essential to organize and integrate the established Business Objectives, Technical Requirements, and User Research findings. Venn Diagram approach facilitated the creation of a well-defined Set of Features for the product.
Prioritizing these features based on their Relevance and Impact enables to make informed decisions that align with both the strategic Business Goals and the User Needs, ultimately enhancing the effectiveness of the product.
Utilizing the MoSCoW Matrix, methodically evaluated features to discern their Essentiality, with a clear focus on prioritizing the delivery of significant value within the shortest feasible timeframe.
This strategic approach enabled us to streamline Decision Making, ensuring that Essential Features received prompt attention while aligning with Project Goals and resource constraints.
03 Design Development
Low-Fidelity Wireframe
Low-Fidelity Wireframe, focused on establishing a clear and logically organized platform structure through experimentation with layouts and Information Architecture, provided clarity on the placement of essential elements for each screen and ensured alignment with Project Objectives and Requirements while addressing the specific needs of the intended users.
The process began with the creation of a Site Map and User Flow for the existing Google Meet program to determine the optimal points of application for the new feature, Integrated Note-Taking
High-Fidelity Wireframe
Analyzed the Design System for Google Meet to comprehend the design language and establish consistency, leading to design supplementary Buttons and Icons that are harmonized with the existing ones.
Conclusively, the Design System was applied to the Low-Fidelity Wireframe, resulting in the generation of the High-Fidelity Wireframe.
Usability Test
The objective of the Usability Test was to systematically assess the ease of use of the product, analyze user navigation behavior, and acquire valuable insights into the overall user perception of the product
